The Exhibition of Calligraphy

During March, Eleanor Sarah and I were going to see our alumni ‘s Calligraphy Exhibition together at Jiangsu Art Gallery.

Cheng Maoran is a student in Nannjing Foreign Language School.It is her third time to hold personal Calligraphy Exhibition.In fact, two-year-old she began learning from books, whether heat the cold of winter or the holidays, school work completed while she was learning calligraphy. When she was seven years old, she went to Japan and South Korea to participate in the exchange of communication.Her first and second Calligraphy Exhibition was at primary school and junior high school in the time of graduation.There were nearly a hundred pieces of calligraphy works with different styles, and it had attracted hundreds of parents and art lovers to visit. At that time,she also became an apprentice to a famous artist called Zhao Xucheng, because the artist wanted to point her book learning.

When I was standing in front of the middle hall "Hou De Zai Wu" ,the four giant Chinese characters,I felt a little bit surprised because this natural words were writted by a plain girl ’s hand.The staff explained to us, " This is a huge number of characters, she could not write on the table, she could only write to stand facing the wall. she wrote an entire week to write it, since they were written several times worse, write a tear, tear write another ... ".So, from this words, I could see her tenacity and love.Her art work "Chu Shi Biao" is nearly 100-meter-long, 2.5-meter-high,it will be built in Guangdong. Now, there are about 200 students study calligraphy at Nanjing Foreign Language School. As a GCA student, I took part in the Volunteer Club and Dancing Club.

Our duty is to take care of the stray animals and improve the relations between humans and animals. Our group arrived there at a chill night about 6.10 pm. However, when we took a taxi on the way to the destination address, we were attracted attention with the city by the night scene. I really enjoyed the neon lamps through the advertisements and buildings.

We entered in a hurry and then opened the door, I found a big contrast between there in my mind. The street was colder and cheerless outside, but it was a scene of bustle and excitement inside without the people drunk bars with petty-bourgeois sentiment. My friends and I sat beside each other and met for a good talk. I observed the interior decoration quietly by myself and found that German did not ornament a drawing room with paintings, they just used candles and glasses to create a gloomy light.

I looked forward for the delicious food, but the realistic menu shocked my mind because it was almost bars.I had to order a set meal and chose a bottle of girlie drink. We waited for a long time but my friends had a good scene of humor and that always made me laughed. The girlie drink was great becanse it was full of fruits, milk and had a healthy style for my body.The colour was special. I was also interested in the beafsteak because of the allemande sauce and its taste. The pattern of the plate was mixed together with the nature and environment. However, I thought that some drinks prepare appetite for dinners were unpalatable and made me felt uncomfortable.

We ate for more than 2 hours and felt the sentiment of Germany. A new try through my life and it was wonderful.

Sculpture Exhibition

On Dec.4th, we went to Nanjing University with GCA teachers and whole classmates to visit the Sculpture Exhibition from the artist named Wu Weishan. His Cultural Figures Sculpture reflects the traditional and contemporary.


Professor Wu Weishan was born in the city of Dongtai, Jiangsu Provine, in 1962. He is the director of the Institute of Fine Arts of Nanjing University, the Institute of Sculpture Arts of Nanjing University and member of Central China Democratic League Committee,and the member of Royal Society of British Sculptors(FRBS),and the member of Chinese Artists Association. He was graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of Nanjing Normal University, EKWC and Art of the University of Washington, USA.


When we looked around the exhibition centre, I was interested in many sculptures, such as the "Sleeping Child", "Lao Zi", and carter. Later then, we entered inside, I had a favourable impression about the artwork named "Beatrix". Beatrix is the queen of Holland. I read up the literature on her.She is also a sculpture. She invited Wu Weishan to sculpt herself in 1996. The gentle smile on her face gives me a friendly feeling and bland odour by the professor is work. It is a demeanour of a queen and reminds me of the Mona Lisa. Her eyes are opening and hairstyle is neat.


The clear features are pressing our lives and real. The bust is unfolded before our eyes about the queen is smile.
The queen is also proficient in sculpture. The statue was being very demanding professional requirements. The Wu Weishan professor catches the important expression from a photo, It told about the Holland is queen was talking friendly with a Chinese herdsman on the natural grazing grounds. This gentle smile is full of humanities charm. Wu Weishan uses his special impressionistic approach to unfold the queen is smile becomes an eternal picture.
